What’s it all about?

Exmoor Fisheries is a well-established Trout Farm and Hatchery who breed Rainbow and Blue Trout for angling and fishing lakes across Southern England and Wales. Based near Brompton Regis in Exmoor National Park on the Somerset/Devon border, the business has been running successfully for nearly 40 years. Due to progression they are looking for somebody to join the team and after a period of training progress assist the manager in the day to day running and cover for him in his absence. It’s a 5 day a week job with one in three weekend working. You must have a level of fitness to suit the role, a current driving licence and be happy to work both outdoors and indoors all year round.

We have 16 ponds and a hatchery. Staff manage the breeding process, growth and health of 100s of thousands of trout, oversee the environment and ensure it’s suitability, manage disease and infection and liaise with customers UK wide.

We are looking for somebody who loves the outdoor/country lifestyle, with or without previous farming or fishing experience as full training can be given and somebody looking to work in a small team where flexibility is key. This job would suit a wide range of people from a College/University leaver looking to gain experience, through to somebody more established looking for a great farming job without working 7 days a week. The farm is set on 7 acres alongside the River Haddeo in a secluded wooded valley well away from the beaten track with wonderful countryside all around including great walks and a nearby large recreational lake. The salary will be circa £20,000 pa. There is also on site accommodation if needed.

Who are we ?

We are a married couple who have recently bought Exmoor Fisheries but have retained the staff including the prior owner in our team. Some of the staff have been working here for 40 years and many for up to 25 years. We are a strong team with superb knowledge and experience which will be a hugely supportive environment.
